Those moments when trying to share a point of view, through examples....all the while it's seen in their eyes the point didn't land in order to understand. Your not trying to change their opinion or belief just trying to provide a different point of view that can make them understand how the topic at hand appears to you.
Then there are times we are on the side of the conversation and it's our eyes that reflect their point didn't land, but regardless of what side of the conversation one stands it's great when the point does land. To see the light come on for someone or feel it finally land within, is a turning point for future conversions that takes place from that moment on. Learning to listen to points of view open us up to understanding more people in life than what we do. The eyes will reveal to you clues if there's an understanding beginning to take form. Maybe it will land at some point or maybe not, we see what we see and the light doesn't turn on until it finds the words that connect to the open part to enlighten this new spot.
There's nothing wrong with wanting others to see what you see, but in the end their vision is theirs just as your view is for you. Some will always see life through a tunnel, while others are open to see different views that shed light on an area where there use to be no clue. Being open doesn't mean one is in agreement, but it does establish personal growth accompanied by broader range of compassionate understanding. New views are important part of growth, so when another view is being presented to you it's worth a few moments of time to briefly be open to the view. Look and see other landscapes besides the ones established in your own mind.
Our thoughts and beliefs become our home much like the house we retreat to known as our physical place of home. We are however, open minded enough to take vacations to see and experience something new, so the next time someone shares a different opinion that does not relate to you, take that moment to be open enough to see a landscape beyond the thoughts of your daily routine. How can one really appreciate a vacation away from routine if the mind is so closed that it's unable to see the new view? Hearing the words of a different point of view, open your eyes to see beyond your standard horizon while still remaining "you." The realization of the landing is there and even though it's nice to return home the experience left you with a broader visual from what was your original view.
Let your 'being" become a growing landscape that has a worth while view and always in search of seeing a broader point from your own surrounding view.
